SOS America is a national, patriotic organization whose members believe in a strong and enduring American Democracy. We believe that involved and responsible citizens are the key and that all our young men (ages 18 to 26 or 17 with parental permission) ought to benefit from serving our nation for one year. Young women may volunteer. This mandatory year of service will be in the military to reap the benefits of discipline, maturation, mutual learning and serving for a worthy purpose and a comradeship that will last a lifetime. The service may be in the active military, the National Guard or Reserve, or in support of local, state or federal programs where available personnel resources are lacking. All however, absent extreme mental or physical disability, will be eligible and expected to serve. The individual and the nation will benefit.
